[question] mouth guard feels "edgy" at the sides; am I supposed to cut the sides?

Trying out this new mouth guard.

I followed the steps and I don't gag.

My front teeth feel secure but I noticed the sides can be a bit "edgy".

I tested it with a soft slap to my side (to simulate a hook) and it hurt!!! Imagine if it was a real hook!!

I reached out to the manufacturer with my question.

Mean time, am I supposed to also cut the sides?
