Eleanor's role in the current story
Something I don't see brought up much which in part I feel like is due to her for the most part being a character that was limited to the books, with the exception of the Into the Pit game which itself has its own canonicity debate. This character would be Eleanor. Particularly her role in the story, currently.
Eleanor was first revealed in Fazbear Frights, a clown character who despite her canon description being quite different, is commonly illustrated and depicted as a slimmer Circus Baby. She first debuted in To Be Beautiful where a teenage girl named Sarah finds and recovers her from a scrapyard, “saving” her according to Eleanor and as a result is granted a wish which Sarah uses to be Beautiful. Eleanor gradually makes her beautiful over night with the one condition being to never remove a heart pendant she is given. It is later revealed Eleanor has been surgically removing her limbs and disposing of them in garbage bags in the garage, replacing her with metal parts that the pendant disguises as a beautiful girl. This revelation comes from Sarah losing the pendant and falling apart into a heaping pile of trash and dying. Eleanor, using a double of the pendant, disguises as Sarah and runs off with her identity.
In later stories she serves an even deeper role, revealed in the epilogues as a black, chaotic force who merely adopted the Eleanor form, and has been tormenting many of the protags of previous stories to inflict agony and feed on human suffering, trapping victims in looping memories in the ballpit. She empowered Afton's Amalgamation, and abandoned him to die to Charlotte, later being killed by Jake after being forced into an overwhelming thought that withers her body into a lifeless husk… but is she truly gone? In Frailty, set in the Pizzaplex era, we read about another victim of Eleanor, Jessica who made a terrible mistake like Sarah did a while ago, and remains bound to the terms of her wish, but Eleanor is gone - is she dead? Like how Frights ended her story? Well, I believe at this time of the story that yes, Eleanor is dead, Frailty is a direct follow-up to Fazbear Fright's conclusion.
But I don't think she stayed dead, in Fury's Rage, we can see an easter egg in Vanny's level of a pod with a silhouette of a vaguely familiar body, consistent to that of Eleanor's - being constructed… or is she being reconstructed? Does this easter egg even mean anything at all? Is it even Eleanor in the pod? Well, assuming she is the one, I have reasons to believe this is significant to the role she plays in the current story.
In Special Delivery, we play as a customer who's been bombarded with rampant animatronic replicas delivered to our home now murderous because of a corruption of the Mimic1 virus, where a Remnant deposit has formulated, protected by darker shadowy Remnant. Collect too much, and you get a threatening visit from Shadow Bonnie. But are his actions here benevolent? Or malevolent? I say it's the latter, and that this is Eleanor, adopting the Shadow Bonnie form that she was shown to take on in the Frights story “Hide and Seek”, feeding on the Remnant of the Fazbear Funtime Service victims. Eleanor is established to desire Remnant in the Frights epilogues after all. What would that mean for Shadow Bonnie in FNAF 2 and 3 though? In 2, he crashes your game when looked at which could indicate hostility, but he helps rest a child in Happiest Day, right? Well I don't think so, I don't think that's meant to be the real Shadow Bonnie, merely a figment of the Crying Child's memory of a shadowy rabbit on the wall at Fredbear's Family Diner. Shadow Bonnie is an evil spirit, Eleanor.
In FNAF AR, I believe Shadow Bonnie aka Eleanor has somewhat of an alliance with Glitchtrap, which could be further supported by Glitchtrap's minions in Princess Quest literally being variations of Shadow Bonnie. Which were originally meant to have green eyes and mouths btw, they were redesigned to intentionally mimic Shadow Bonnie's appearance.
This potential alliance would contextualize the presence of the maybe-Eleanor in Vanny's level of Fury's Rage, Vanny, a disciple of Glitchtrap is rebuilding Eleanor's physical body after her husk withered away at the end of Fazbear Frights.
But how would Eleanor even be back? Well I think it's the same reason she manifested in the first place, the power of Afton's crimes. The agony of them birthed this evil entity, but when Fazbear Enterprises revived Fazbear Entertainment as an LLC, they started reviving the past tragedies as well as constantly talked about rumors and lore. The Mimic has a character bring up the superstition of talking about something bringing it more power. We're empowering these memories and fueling their negative energy, reviving the darkness of them with it, Eleanor. Who hitchhiked on the Mimic1 program as it began to mimic William Afton, working together going forward.
Heck, this could explain why characters in Help Wanted 1 and Special Delivery mimic UCN lines, Eleanor in Frights was present for the events of TMIR1280 as it's one of the dark memories she and Larson glitches through in the epilogues, she was feeding on Afton's suffering, his agony, his Shadow Remnant, and Remnant encompasses emotions… and memories. Glitchtrap has William's memories of UCN, through Eleanor.
Eleanor being around could also be what those giggling teleporting plush babies in RUIN are meant to symbolize, her lurking presence at the Pizzaplex, haunting it. So what do you think?
