Was I too harsh on this game?
When the game first came out, all anyone was ever talking about was Five Nights At Freddy this and FNAF that. At the time, I was really into making LP's, despite me only getting about 20 views per video, it was a pretty nice hobby. So when I heard this was the hot new thing, I knew I had to jump on the bandwagon like the dirty little whore I am.
I knew practically nothing about the game. All I knew about it was the title image:

and this one

Judging by these images alone, I expected maybe a game that takes place in the future where nothing but robots ruled the world, or like, you played as a factory worker who does nothing but build robots all day then ONE NIGHT, THE ROBOTS GOT LOOSE!
WEELL I was sorta right. You do play as a person with a boring job, and you are involved in some sort of Robospiracy that involves you being hunted down by robots. I began playing it, really excited to see this new IP, waiting to see what sort of horrors awaited me!...then about 5 minutes in I realized it was not the game I wanted. I was bored, and I realized that the game was nothing more than a Jump-Scare sim. I spent the entire video wondering what exactly made the game so special. Yes, the animatronics were creepy, but creepy isn't scary. It's just unnerving.
Maybe it's because I'm somewhat immune to jump scares, but I just really hated the game for being a lot less than I expected. You can see the video I made here, but I don't want to make my video the main point, just proof that I got real bored, real fast.

Then a few months pass by, and then WOW! A new FNaF game! Already!? Damn...well, I didn't bother playing this game, seeing as how I really hated the last game. My curiosity was too strong, however, as I decided to look up people playing this game. Wow, I was so happy I never played that game, as it looked EVEN WORSE! It's almost as if Scott heard all the criticism and said "hmm, they thought it was boring and they had nothing to do? Well then I'll give them TOO MUCH to do!". Check the cameras, check the hallways, turn the flash light on, check the vents, turn the flash light on, go back to the office, check the hallway, put the mask on cuz Freddy's here, what's that caution sign? Oh! Wind up the music box, back to the office, mask on! GOOD GOD SCOTT! I can't criticize the game too much because I never played the game, but God. I sure wasn't convinced the game got any better.
It wasn't until months later that I realized just how deep this game's lore is, and how beautiful the whole experience is. I love a good mystery, and I love playing detective. It's always pretty neat finding out something new and fitting the pieces of the puzzle every day. Of course, I'm not a big fan of the game itself, but I do really love the lore. I don't think I'm a fan of the whole franchise in general, just a spectator of how things turn out. Just like how I'm not a fan of the Game Grumps, but lord knows I love me some Conspiracy Grumps.
With all that being said, I gotta wonder if I was a bit too harsh on the game. I really shut down during that video, didn't give the game a chance after the first game over. I really thought we had something new, but really we just had a generic horror game guised in a bear suit. I do hope FNAF 3 won't disappoint me. I LOVE Springtrap's design! It's phenomenal! It's getting me real excited for the new game...but, hopefully it'll be a better game than the previous two.
