New to forestry. Any advice?

Recently hired on with the USFS Region 2 as a forestry technician working with timber and silviculture strike teams. I recently graduated with a BS in ecology and have pretty basic understanding of forestry practices. Will be moving to CO from WV and am not super familiar with the forest types out there. Any advice regarding reference material, adjusting to a new region, good gear to have, things to know about the industry, etc. would be really appreciated. Thanks :)
