Maceration/Maturation believer

I used to believe maceration/maturation was nonsense and a placebo thing until recently.

Bought a decant of Al Nashama Caprice. Absolutely beautiful scent. I have a decant of Bleu Electricque as well and it's almost a one to one clone. It also happened to be the first time receiving a compliment from a coworker. I knew I had to get a full bottle.

When the full bottle arrived, I sprayed it and the scent was disappointing. It's the same fragrance definitely but there's just something lacking. It's more harsh, synthetic and doesn't last as long as the decant.

I believe now that macerating would improve it. Do I just spray a few times and let it rest? Can I still use the fragrance from the bottle during the process or does the juice need to be stagnant for a few weeks? TIA
