Is Minecraft the only TRUE sandbox?

To be more specific, with true sandbox i mean: a game where you can go to whatever you want, do whatever you want, build whatever you want, without a defined goal, and your creativity is the end of the game.

I just wanted to play a game were i spawn in a world, and that's it, no main story, no quests, no good or bad endings, just you in a world, building things, exploring, learning about the mechanincs as you play, and i feel that the only game that at least got close to that, was Minecraft, and despite the absurd success of Minecraft, it stills a 2009 game, and it seems like till this day just a few games tried to do something similar.

Games like:

  • Subnautica
  • No Man's Sky
  • Terraria
  • Satisfactory

but with those games i always feel like i have a defined path to go(some times multiple paths), and i have some degree of freedom to solve problems that the game imposes me, and once i get to the final goal, i dont have much to do with the game anymore.

in No Man's Sky i dont have much to do after i get all the best spaceship or the best equipment, and with Minecraft once i find diamonds and crafted diamond tools, that's when the game started for me, because now i dont need to worry as much about my equipment, and i can just do whatever i wanted, build a massive building, create some complex thing with redstone, explore the world, find interesting places to build more things..., and the list goes on

Does anyone know's of a game like this?

I was thinking of developing a game like this, so..., would anyone be interested in playing that? or my friends are right when they say that i must just quit games and go buy some lego kits?
