I want to explore atmospheric, immersive worlds that do not feel very "game-like"
Not looking for any particular genre, but a few features or design elements I like to see:
-sparse, infrequent music, if any. leaving lots of room for well-made ambient sound.
-little to no explicitly stated goals or directions, allowing a player to come to understand the game/world on their own.
-if there are other characters, they feel like independent life-like inhabitants/creatures rather than tools or decorations. Your relationship to other beings is organically experienced.
-any game mechanics and interactions happen directly through your character in the world, rather than in menus or abstractions.
-if there is a story, it is experienced through open-ended gameplay rather than being "told." a story that feels like something you, yourself went through on your own accord.
-a game world that feels either authentically alive or having its own history, whether or not you are shown it. the setting feels unique and imaginative.
not all features necessary, just an idea of what i'm looking for.
Games I like:
-Rain World
-Ico
-The Last Guardian
-Journey
-Jusant
-classic Minecraft
-Zerahypt
-exploring VRchat worlds by myself
all suggestions appreciated! i'm open to new things
