What is the most famous landmark on each continent?
This includes natural or man-made wonders. I was debating this with a friend and there was some disagreement, so I'd like to gather some thoughts. Our list was something like:
North America: Statue of Liberty
(runner ups: Grand Canyon, Chichen Itza, Niagra Falls, Golden Gate Bridge)
South America: Macchu Picchu
(runner ups: Cristo Redentor, Angles Falls, Galapagos as a whole?)
Europe: Eiffel Tower
(runner ups: St. Basil's Cathedral, Matterhorn, Colosseum, the acropolis, too many to list here...)
Africa: Pyramids at Giza (by far the easiest)
(runner ups: Mt. Kilimanjaro, Great Zimbabwe, Lake Victoria, Djinguereber Mosque)
Asia: The Kaaba
(runner ups: Hagia Sophia, Great Wall, Mt. Everest, Taj Mahal, Angkor Wat, Petra)
Oceania: Sydney Opera house
(runner ups: Uluru, Great Barrier Reef, Nan Madol Ruins)
Edit:
Completely forgot about stonehenge for europe…
