Public Sauna
I’m in Freising for work travel and went to my first public sauna that wasn’t gender specific.
It really made me appreciate the culture here. A young couple came in and I think the guy could tell I was very cautious of not looking at his woman or any other one. I also still had my towel on so he probably could tell I was American. Once we we’re in for about 15-20 min he looked over at me to make sure I was okay, I was def getting close to my limit. He checked up on me and gave me a warm smile. This gave me the confidence to use the open showers naked and it was quite liberating.
The fact that society here doesn’t sexualize the naked body in places like a sauna is a beautiful thing to me. It felt natural.
It would be awesome if I could spend an evening with my girlfriend in sauna but that would simply never happen in a public sauna in America. Society there has sexualized the naked body very much.
I could eventually build my own, but I enjoyed the community aspect of it where you can lounge outside, go to the hot tub, chat with locals, or get a massage.
