Least favorite scenes in your favorite Ghibli movies?
If you don't have any least favorite scenes, or no scenes you dislike, don't comment. Saying the movies are perfect doesn't add much, and is for a different post than this one. If you think the movie is horrible and "every scene is bad," please don't comment that either. It's okay if you like these scenes, I don't want to get in an argument about their true artistic representation or why you like the scene. I'm glad someone can enjoy it, but they aren't pleasant for me. I know some of them are supposed to be gross, and it works too well.
Some scenes that I personally dislike (not everything is listed):
Nausicaa: Seeing the giant warrior fall apart is disgusting and it's depressing seeing the ohms killed. Seeing Nauiscsa lose a loved one is a hard scene too.
Howl: The scene where Howl covers himself in green goo.
Princess Mononoke: The maggots, this is one of the worst for me, it looks so horrifying and disgusting. I know it's commentary of some kind, but for me it's very unpleasant. There are many upsetting scenes in this movie, but I'm trying to limit myself.
Spirited Away:The vomiting scene. I know it's symbolic, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
I still enjoy these movies for one reason or another, but thinking about it there's a lot of squeamish scenes. By dislike these scenes, I mean I consider them scenes I enjoy less than the rest of the film. Ussually I don't skip, but I don't enjoy them either. Maybe the goal of these scenes are to make you uncomfortable, well, they accomplished that goal and I don't enjoy them. I'm not arguing all of.these scenes should be taken out, again, I just considered them less pleasant watching. I think it's interesting to look at what parts of your favorite movies are your least favorite parts. What are your least favorite scenes?
