Workspace switching shortcut: how to avoid input

Hey, I have Super+1/2/3... assigned to switch my workspaces. When I use it to navigate to a workspace that has an application with a text input open, the field receives a bunch of number inputs. I do make sure that Super is the last key I release.

For example, if I navigate to workspace number 2 which has Slack open, the message input receives "22222222222", which is quite annoying.

I'm coming from sway and old habits of navigation do die hard. Is there a way to prevent this behavior?
