Today I played the Old Course of St. Andrews. u/inaaace in my heart, family all around.
For those who don’t know, this subreddit for years has stood by and supported u/inaaace through his health battles as he knew his time was coming. Regularly, when tagged, he would post updates. One of his last updates included hopes to play the Old Course before he passed or lost strength. We haven’t had an update in well over a month and we may not get one (nor does he owe us one) but in case he has teed off on the 19th I thought it fitting to honor him for the r/golf community even in a small way during my time in Scotland.
This has been a trip of a lifetime with my family as well, scheduled 3 years ago but postponed because of Covid, we’ve lost some good lads in our family during that time, and nearly lost my dad when he fell 30’ and broke his neck last July. At minimum he was supposed to be paralyzed. Well he’s played every round here (Brora, Royal Dornoch Championship Course, Castle Stuart, St. Andrews Castle Course, The Old Course, Kingsbarns, and tomorrow Carnoustie)… and shot his best since the fall (85) at the old course.
Sounds like as good a reason for a pint at the Jigger Inn tonight, eh?
