Callie's parents

I'm watching season 7 episode 20, the episode where Arizona and Callie get married. We are introduced to Arizona parents and Callie's mom for the first time. How does Callie's dad stay with his wife after she won't even hold their grandchild? I'm kind of annoyed that the writers never touch back on Callie's relationship with her mom or sister. When Callie's dad reappears in later seasons, it's not addressed whether or not Callie has any relationship with her mother. Are viewers to assume the Sophia and Callie have no relationship with any of Callie's family aside from Callie's dad?
