Best Delay these days? Timeline? EchoSystem? DD200/500?

Gonna invest a good chunk of change into a delay pedal. At first I thought I wanted the Boss DD200, but then I thought I wanted the Timeline, but then I thought I wanted the DD500, but now currently looking at the Empress EchoSystem.

I'm a "buy once, cry once" kind of guy, so I think the Timline is at the bottom of the list seeing as its 9 years old already, and I feel like it might get replaced sometime soon. Or not, who knows??

What would be your recommendation? I play metal, as well as ambient stuff. The delay is for the ambient stuff, I like modern digital delays as well as retro tape delays, and everything in between. The weirder the better.

Any thoughts??
