Did I make the right choice with a classic Ruger 10/22 Carbine as my first .22 at 33

I just got myself a Ruger 10/22 Carbine Semi-Auto, but now I'm wondering if I should have gotten something different like the takedown edition or a Winchester. I'm 33 years old and this is my first .22. I could have gotten an AR-style .22 but didn't like the look. Did I make a wise decision? Looking for thoughts.
