Hair stylist assistant?

I am currently working as an assistant at a salon so I’m washing hair, cleaning, doing color/bleach applications and also trying to bring in my own clients (the salon does not provide them). My question is, is it normal to be receiving no tips as an assistant (im getting paid minimum wage). I’m fully licensed, I’m just doing this position because it was presented to me as a way to continue my education and get more experience. Thanks! Just trying to get a feel for the norm as someone who is quite broke lmao
