Did I miss something? Playing Canadian anthem before game with 2 US teams.

I'm watching the Nashville game (at Sabres) and they played the Canadian anthem along with star spangled banner. Is this new? I could have sworn that growing up they only played both when there were teams representing both countries. That's definitely how we did it on the teams I played growing up.
