Whirlpool Dishwasher Heating Element Repaie
TLDR; After finally learning about diagnostic mode, I was able to save a couple hundred dollars by replacing my dishwasher heating element myself.
TIL that repairing a broken heating element in a dishwasher isn’t as simple as simply getting the part and installing it. YouTube university was especially helpful for giving step-by-step directions for installation, but none of them mentioned that in order to get the new part to work, you have to enter diagnostic mode to reset any and all faults. The steps for this procedure isn’t in the owners manual, but rather it’s a technical manual that is not available to consumers (at least not on Whirlpool’s website). I spent a good few weeks with a cold dishwasher thinking I must’ve installed the heating element incorrectly before I found the answer.
