just got a receive that doesnt support HDCP2.2

I just bought a used Yamaha HTR-2067 receiver. After reading the specs it says it does not support  HDCP2.2. It features Dolby digital plus and DTS sound. I was thinking the best solution for 5.1 surround sound would be to get a USB to optical adapter for my PC. I would connect my laptop to the receiver for audio only, while also connected the laptop directly to the projector via HDMI. what do you all think? Also, would I need to download any software?

update: I decided to try connecting my laptop to receiver with an HDMI cable and see what happens. I just listened to the audio with headphones from the receiver, didnt bother trying to output the video. I can hear it fine, so worst case I will just buy an HDMI 2-way splitter
