I'm already on my 509th attempt to get a perfect chest hunt but still nothing, I don't think this is normal... am I doing something wrong?

I'm trying to get a perfect chest hunt in months but still nothing, and i have a friend of mine who has just a little more hunts than me and has 2 perfects... is my situation normal or is my friend extremely lucky?
