Looking for suggestions around Galena

My husband and I are planning a little road trip from Milwaukee to Galena soonish. I remember going as a kid to Galena and loooving it but not sure what it’s like now!

We’ll probably be staying in Galena but exploring around it as well.

• Definitely into outdoorsy stuff! But I’ll be around 34 weeks pregnant so can’t do anything too crazy.
• We are big foodies, but I unfortunately have gestational diabetes and have to eat low carb options 😭
• I’m a huge history nerd and love the whole pretend you’re in the 1800s thing although it may be too early in the season for those festivities. Also really into old architecture!

Any tips on where to stay, eat (with low carb options, wompwomp) easy hiking options, etc?
