Indian custom or was this suspicious behavior??
Happened in North Carolina USA - So I just delivered Indian food to an Indian customer. Note on the order said to call the phone number when I arrive. Not a problem. When I arrived the door was partially open so I didn't need to call. As I approached the home I could see the man standing in the living room through the partially open door so I spoke As I walked to the door. As I got closer I wondered why he wasn't getting closer to me. When I got to the door to hand him the bag of food he asked me to come in. I just said "here" as in here's your food since all he had to do was grab the bag. He said no come in and I said NO, like " hell nah" yo take your food 🤔. He hesitated ,looked down at the threshold of the doorway and stepped completely on the outside before he grab the bag of food and also hand me a bottled water. I said thank you and walked away. I never threw anything in the trash faster in my life 🤣🤣. As I drove away all I could think of was the scene from Dahmar when Jeffrey Dahmer had the black guy from the bar dancing for his life to make it out of his home alive 😭😭 I'm not sure if I'm the one being weird or is this some kind of Indian custom I'm not aware of. I know it's common for Indians to remove shoes at the door and I noticed pairs of shoes lined up against the wall in the living room and some on the outside of the house. So my question is why would he want my outside shoes on the inside of the home and why did he take his bare feet onto the outside of the home. I just can't stop wondering why he just didn't take the food as I handed it thru the threshold of the doorway. He only took the bag once he was completely standing outside the house. 🤨 What's up with that?
