Apple Podcasts Keeps Changing My Continuous Playback and External Controls Settings

I would like Apple Podcasts to NOT do continuous playback and have my external controls set to forward/back.

I feel like at least once per week, my settings keep getting reset to continuous playback and next/previous.

It’s really annoying and driving me batty.

Why on earth would my settings keep changing?

Any chance my car receiver (dumb Bluetooth, not CarPlay) could be doing this?

Any chance it has something to do with my Apple Watch, which is always changing the playback speed on me unexpectedly?

Anyone else having this problem?
