Anyone else’s 16 pro max lock button finicky?

I've noticed the lock button doesn't always lock my phone when I press it as I put the phone back in my pocket. Curious if it's just me or if it's a wider issue.

It seems to only happen when I have the phone almost in my pocket, like the proximity sensor is blocking it for some reason.

Edit: 16 pro max, natural titanium, 512gb

edit 2: try holding the phone in your left hand, pressing the lock button, then immediately flick the phone downward and away from you. Seems to trigger it most of the time.

Edit 3: opened a ticket with Apple on 26sep2024. If you are experiencing this issue, you should do the same to get it escalated on their list.

Edit 4: updating to iOS 18.0.1 seems to have fixed it
