Long shot but have to ask

I know it's unlikely but I had to ask because Apple constantly surprises me:

My call recording through the notes app seemed to glitch after updating my iOS and didn't record a call I tried to record tonight at 6:30. I clicked call recording, it counted down, but didn't announce "this call is being recorded". After I ended the call, there was no recording or note of the call in the notes app.

Is it lost forever or is there any way to retrieve the call? It was fairly important otherwise I wouldn't care
