Fireworks at Riverwalk advice?

Good morning and Happy New Year! My partner and I are hoping to see the downtown fireworks from the Riverwalk south bank and were wondering if anyone had any good tips for tonight? Neither of us have been before. For example, how early is a good idea to drive over? Even if not on the riverwalk are there other areas worth checking out to still get a good view? Thanks in advance!
