Ani Ramen
I did not heed the warnings, and for that I have regret.
I decided to try Ani Ramen for the first time tonight through GrubHub delivery. I was feeling a bit under the weather today and thought that some ramen would hit the spot. GrubHub had a 25% promo for AR, so I figured why not? What. A. Mistake.
Much to my dismay, my order arrived in a puddle on my doorstep. The delivery driver did not follow my instructions to place it on the table inside my door, and I am actually glad he did not. I was left with a puddle and wet soggy bag. What kind of person in their right mind delivers food that has leaked everywhere and leaves it on someone’s doorstep in a giant puddle?
After several trips back upstairs for more paper towels, I was finally able to carry the soaking bag inside without too much more leaking on the steps. Upon opening the bag, I was astounded to discover that the cup of broth had no lid on it. Seriously? There are these things called containers, and for liquids for delivery, they require a lid. What kind of place would send out a delivery with a bowl of liquid with no lid? Have you seriously lost your minds?
Unfortunately, it got worse. When I was able to finally dry off the containers to open the food, the paper (yes, PAPER) bowl containing the broth had disintegrated and had pieces of paper floating within it. How is a paper bowl a good idea? This made the broth completely inedible. No soup for you… er, me.
Well, at least I still have noodles and pork and vegetables for dinner, I guess. Enough noodles to cover just the bottom of the container, two pieces of scallion, and some sparse cabbage (all totaling less than 1/4 of the container). But the pork! Wow, a whole two tiny pieces with more fat than actual edible meat. If I wanted to eat fat, I would’ve just ordered some bacon. Good thing I ordered a side of chicken as a supplemental backup! The chicken was the only part that was not a total dumpster fire, if you ignore the fat and gristle on 25% of that too.
I am astounded by the lack of quality and delivery service. What was supposed to be a simple, quick, easy dinner for someone not feeling well turned into cleanup time on my front porch and a very disappointing and unsatisfying meal. Plus I’m even more exhausted now, and my porch smells like pork broth.
I’ve never experienced food or service this terrible in my life. Is this the norm? Others have similar experiences? Will also take recommendations for a decent ramen place that knows to deliver liquid in a container with a lid. Thanks.
