Buying yourself a ring to signify an important moment or event?

Sorry if this isn’t the right thread but last year I was diagnosed with a major chronic illness, and I kind of want to get a piece of jewellery to honour it in a positive way. Has anyone done something similar for a significant life event and what did you go for?
