Lot of fun making this kindle gen4 working

Everyone is talking about the lastest kindle, but I found this pristine gem(D01100) for 20 bucks on FB marketplace. The physical keyboard reminded me when I first got the Nokia E71, lol, yeah I'm old as dirt.

It wouldn't connect to WiFi, I tried many ways in vain. Then I noticed the version was the original 4.0, so figured it's probably too old to support the modern WiFi.

I went on Amazon support website and downloaded the offline updates and copied them to kindle drive one by one, and updated them one by one:

4.0 -> 4.1 4.1 -> 4.1.1 4.1.1 -> 4.1.2 4.1.2 -> 4.1.3 4.1.3 -> 4.1.4

Voila, my babe is online now. But when I tried to with my account it's still refusing to login. It turned out that Amazon suspected that someone might have hacked my account so they sent me an email with an OTP, which worked as password.

Now it's officially my 3rd kindle.
