I feel overwhelmed by the ammount of new vocabulary
Hi, everyone. I'm a B1 english learner. I've been learning English for years mainly through a lot of input via media and TV series but the intensity of my active learning process has only been for a couple of months. Now that I started writing down each single word/expression/phrasal verb I encounter I look at my doc file with them with horror. Over a couple of months around a thousand of them picked up.
Is it a viable idea to write down and try to learn all the unfamilliar words I encounter or maybe I should focus on quality instead of quantity? I've noticed that sometimes I see the words which I thought I knew and memorized with spaced repetition but have no idea what they mean now. Any tips on how do you convert your passive vocabulary into active? When I speak I feel tremendous gap between the words I recognize and the words and expressions I can recall immediately.
By the way, is it possible that my overall language comprehension may be B1 but speaking stays at A2 as only a couple of months have passed since I started speaking. Yeah, I'd been consuming English speaking content for years but had never spoken actually before recently. My learning process is absolutely off the wall I don't know what to do. I don't know what to start from. Has anyone experienced something like that?
