Coil head new Mechanic

I was checking out the new interior of the update when suddenly a Coil head heads towards me, but for some reason it stopped and stayed like that for a few seconds, it couldn't move And he couldn't kill me even when I wasn't looking at him, I still don't quite understand this new mechanic but it seems like it's something interesting for this enemy.
