9mm: Handgun vs PCC

thinking I need to step up and arm myself sooner rather than later. which is better in a mutual defense situation? im thinking:
Handgun: -cheaper -more concealable -harder to learn/control
PCC: -more expensive -harder to transport -easy to learn -greater useful range
the answer will eventually be both, the question is more which to start with. for the sake of comparison let's say i'm looking specifically at Rugers, EC9 vs Security 9 vs PCC
