Did anyone else retain their love of guns from their conservative upbringing?

I was raised in southern Virginia in a very small, rural town and grew up very religious (catholic), conservative, and pro-gun. Eventually, I went to college and slowly shed the religious and conservative ideas I had been raised on and have become a pretty liberal person in many areas of my life. Despite that transformation, my love and interest in guns, hunting, and military history has persisted since childhood.

Anyone else have a similar path?
