Samsung G80SD with Linux

Hello,

I bought a Samsung G80SD OLED 4k 240Hz monitor a few months ago, but I can’t get Linux to work properly with this monitor. I know that HDR isn’t fully supported in Linux yet, but I can probably live without it. I understand there are various workarounds to make it work decently.

However, the big issue for me is that when I boot into Linux, the monitor is set to 60Hz. When I try to change it to 240Hz, that option isn't available – only 120Hz is. When I select 120Hz, the screen starts flickering. To stop the flickering, I have to disable Game Mode on the monitor. If I change the resolution to, for example, 1080p or 1440p, I get the same problem.

I have a AMD GPU 7800XT and AMD 7800x3d CPU.

Is there anyone using the same monitor who has managed to fix this? I've tried with Fedora (Gnome, KDE, Hyprland), and Pop!_OS, but the issue remains the same. I’m using DisplayPort, not HDMI. It’s also worth mentioning that I have no problems at all when using Windows 11.

Thx,

//Sibben
