How to deal with migraines?
I really need to hear from people who share my illness and have a vaguely exact idea of how I feel, instead of telling me to 'sleep it out'.
16F diagnosed with SLE two years ago and chronic migraine a bit later. I have headaches at least once a week and long term migraines which can last up to seven days at a time. I've had two MRIs which are perfectly fine. Otherwise, my lupus has been in remission for over a year now. The only pain meds my doctor allows are aspirin and ibuprofen. However, I have grown accustomed to aspirin so I've been using ibu 400mg for 6 months.
All that said, I've had a nonstop migraine for three days now. I've stuffed my face with ibuprofen, but it doesn't work anymore. I made sure to eat, hydrate and sleep enough (enough is an understatement, I slept for 18 hours in total yesterday cause I didn't know what else to do), but the pain still lingers. I'm really desperate, so I was wondering what y'all do in a situation like this?
And just to get the obvious out of the way: going to the ER wouldn't help, the only solution they can offer is more meds, MAYBE an IV, but that's for highest level headaches only.
Thank you for reading. Any advice is appreciated🥺
