Just snagged my first MacBook Pro after 15 years on PC, here’s my take!

I finally ditched my Dell Inspiron 3315 laptop that I use while I travel. I have been hesitant to buy a MacBook Pro due to my at-home workhorse. But in light of the new gen of MacBook pros, I finally pulled the trigger.

For reference, I have a home built ASUS ROG ESPORTS GAMING RIG with 32GB of DDR4 ram and 4TB of SSD, 3080TI, Gold Power 860W, etc etc.

I hate to say it, but this little MacBook Pro is more intuitive and more snappy than my Desktop. If anyone is on the fence about the perfect combination for technology, I’d probably home build a rig to do serious tasks that you don’t mind loading up with work, and grab a MacBook Pro for everything else. The multi-tasking capabilities of the MacBook Pro are lovely. I enjoy how the side bar allows you to easily switch between apps and gets you where you need to go while maintaining a steady workflow. I find it better for window switching while drawing out a model in excel or taking notes during a meeting. Battery life is nice, no comparative benchmark coming from a less than favorable bottom of the barrel windows laptop, but still nice to see.

Over the years, I’ve owned a few higher end laptops, all windows of course. This MacBook Pro is perfect for all the in between tasks that I couldn’t do or didn’t want to do on those laptops.

If anyone has any recommendations on what to do to optimize daily use, please let me know. My day to day job is as a commercial real estate broker. I do online school and edit YouTube videos on Davinci Resolve Studio.

I went with the 14” M4 Pro, 24GB of Ram, 1TB, 14/20 unbinned finished in Space Black.
