Oh man, firmware lock?
I have an almost new MacBook Pro 2016 given to me by my husband right before he died. I’m not on good terms with his parents (another story for another sub). I didn’t try to use it for a few years because it made me too sad.
Then I opened it and tried to use my Apple ID which it didn’t like so I tried his but probably got it wrong. Within a few short minutes I got an icon of a lock and a request for a firmware password.
This is so incredibly frustrating. I have no access to the original paperwork and have gone down multiple roads to overcome this obstacle.
Do I simply have an expensive paperweight? I can’t believe that. Since he was the techie and he’s not here does anyone know what I can do? Our daughter is starting college in the fall and I would love to actually be able to use it. Thanks
It is possible he bought it used since he did that sort of thing a lot.
