I left a game over someone attempting to "rule zero" their way into playing Triple Triad.
So, last night I was just chilling at FNM, playing Magic the Gathering with two other Magic the Gathering players. All of a sudden one of my opponents just starts winking at me and saying "Hey, [MY NAME] has a totally hot combo, he wins!". I was kind of confused since it was like 6 or 7 turns in and I didn't have a combo, but I've only been playing power level 6.31 Magic the Gathering, so I thought that maybe I had stumbled into one of the fabled power level 7.6 pod or even the dreaded 7.9 pod where combos can occur. I only really know a singular Street Fighter 5 combo (quarter circle kick) so I trusted the player that what I played was a combo.
As we're scooping up, some guy walks up, kisses the combo declaring player, and the player who said I got a combo starts talking about how I got a "massive turn 4 combo" last game. The man starts grinning and says "massive turn 4 combo, huh..." and sits down. He starts asking me questions like "did you pack any... tutors for that deck?" and "are you one of those... fast mana guys?". His partner just looked on with an eerie grin that I don't want to remember. I was starting to get flustered, so I just kind of mumbled in response, and I basically said I just wanted to play another game.
This was not the correct move, as the two got a sour look on their faces, and the man said "If he's not gonna play ball, I'm going to have to whip out my biggest deck", and his partner nodded. I didn't want to stay there with the bad vibes so I decided I was going to leave. As I was packing up the man said to me "I didn't want to ruin your night, we just wanted to try and play a ...game... with you. But if you don't want to even have a conversation about what kind of ...game... we're going to play, good riddance." I was too off-put to respond.
When I went back to the LGS on Saturday to play Yugioh (my Dark Magician deck is very OP), some of the other regulars said that the third rando in the pod went home with the couple at the end of the night, one of them saying they were going to play some "thriple triadism" or something (as far as I know there hasn't been a legitimate physical release of Triple Triad from Final Fantasy VIII recently?).
What do you guys think? Should I have answered the couple's questions so I could have played Triple Triad with them? Do you think they have room to play Tetra Master next time?
