Malay vs Chinese wedding

Hi everyone i’ve always been curious about the differences between a Malay and Chinese wedding particularly in the area of finances. In a usual Malay wedding (or atleast my social circle), the main ceremonial events are a Nikah (bride side) and reception (2 events seperately for bride and groom). Common practise is bride will bear the expenses for events on her side and the groom will bear the expenses for the events on his side. But there is something called a “wang hantaran” which is given from the groom’s family to the bride’s family and this can be used in part to cover for the expenses. I understand for the Chinese culture, they will have a tea ceremony on their side and maybe a small gathering after that. And their reception is usually shared with the groom. In usual cultural practise, which side will bear the expenses for the tea ceremony and the reception. And is there such a thing as the “wang hantaran” as i mentioned earlier?
