Change in Mangalore and Dakshin Kannada district in past 10 year? From an outsider's view

I was a student (from North Karnataka ) in dakshin Kannada district 10 years ago. I visited Mangalore and dk after 10 years. Here are the things i noticed on what has changed in 10 years.

  1. Less no of private buses compared to when I was student.

  2. Religious polarisation in DK and Mangalore has increased.I saw lot more burkha clad women compared to then and lot more religious hoarding from both Hindu / muslims.

  3. Lot more mallus than I was used to in mangaluru. They didn't seem to be assimilated as far as culture wise and attitude wise.

  4. Lot more garbage littered than before everywhere, even you can see it in rivers.

  5. Roads and connectivity(trains) has improved a lot .

  6. Tuluva's are still same in nature , helpful and kind even to a stranger(like me) when asked about address or bus routes etc.

  7. Food quality has decreased a little bit. It's subtle but i noticed it as a foodie.

  8. A lot more commercialisation of everything including temples.

  9. I saw more use of Tulu script on boards which i did appreciate ,even though I don't understand the script.

Note : these are my own observations, I might be wrong in some cases.
