Ritz upgraded to presidential?

I booked an $800 ish executive suite and got upgraded apparently to a $4500 presidential suite. Any ideas why this would have happened? I used my American Express and i do not have special marriott status.

Upon arrival and check in I got to my room and it was only an executive. They moved me back down
