Will matchmaking just get better with time, or does it need actual fixing?

I love playing this game, but it's got to have the most consistently worst matchmaking I have ever seen...

There's no way a match where one team easily breaks 20 kills and not one person on the other can even break 10 is balanced or fair, and this kind of thing happens all the time.

It's a coin flip between stomping or being stomped. I can count the amount of evenly balanced matches I've had on one hand. Is it just because the game is new?
