Need opinion

I am having work done to foundation. Basically taking out a door and patching the hole. The other side will be waterproofed and back filled with dirt.

However, the courses stacked like this are oddball to me. I don’t really care about the look. But want to know is this a solid patch? Or should I be questioning this work?

I’ve never seen this formation and intuitively it seems weaker than traditional running bond you see everywhere. I can see he saved himself a bunch of time cutting blocks. And maybe it doesn’t matter much.

Just need to know if I have to address this.
