Unpopular opinion: You had to be there.

I think a lot of younger people criticize movies of the past because they weren't there to see the progression of movies in real time. To give an example Pulp Fiction was absolutely groundbreaking when it came out. If you weren't there, and have watched 50 movies that borrowed from Pulp Fiction then you won't understand why its was special.
