Dune Part One & Two have no heart.
There is no denying that both movies are technical marvels that have seldom been seen before, Denis deserves all the love he gets for creating these insanely grand productions.
Having said that, and I expect downvotes due to the overwhelming praise they have recieved, but I feel like it has no heart. No core emotional attachment to any of the characters. Most of them are cold and angry and distant to me as a viewer. To the point of detriment to my overall enjoyment. I'm frankly a little bored at points. I don't really care who lives or dies. Our leading man is so uncharismatic in the role and it may be by design but it only serves to dour my attachment to the stakes.
The only character in the two movies that brings out some kind of 'I wanna root for this guy' is Javier Bardems character.
Again, huge, grand spectacle, technical achievements up the wazoo. But emotionally vacant, IMO.
