Torn that my baby name is popular
My husband and I had names picked out since 2022. Currently 28 weeks pregnant with our first child and the name is… Amelia. I thought it was a more uncommon name when we picked it but now I’m seeing it everywhere. I’m attached to the name for her but worried she will go to school with 15 other Amelia’s. I don’t know if I’m upset enough to talk to my husband about it and go name searching again this late in the pregnancy. My husband voiced that he wasn’t attached to the name very early in the pregnancy but after a week of talking about names and deciding on Elizabeth as a backup name he liked Amelia best in the end.
Am I worrying over nothing? I don’t care about having a unique name or spelling I just do not want one that every other girl has. Is Elizabeth a less common name? I saw the SSA had Amelia as #4 most popular girl name for 2023.
Update: everyone is so lovely! Thank you for putting the popular now vs 50 years ago into perspective and sharing how many Amelia’s there really are. I truly do love the name Amelia and have decided to stick with it. I really really appreciate the support and name ideas close to Amelia. Thank you, thank you, thank you ❤️
