Gender Neutral name blindness

I’ve been seeing this far too often. Where people are using boy names on girls and calling it gender neutral.

It’s just a boy name on a girl.

It’s not gender neutral until it is equally used/ considered for both genders. Think Riley and its various spellings.

What is with this trend?

It’s so odd to me. And gives trying to hard.

Edit: let me clarify. I’m talking about names we recognize today as boy names (majority) being used in girls. Riley was an example of a gender neutral name because it eventually reached a certain level of popularity for girls.

And relax with the misogynistic comments. Opinions don’t have to have an agenda.

Edit: great discussion. Great points. Some people have differing opinions and that’s ok. If you like boys names for girls great. If you came here to argue gender neutral names I really don’t care cause that wasn’t the question.
