What does “pharmacy only” entail?

We’re getting down to the wire for our trip to New Zealand, and have been thinking about picking up some of our meds when we get there instead of weighting down our luggage. These are things that would be over the counter in the US. (I understand what we need for our prescriptions.). But when I searched the Chemist Warehouse web site to see whether they’re available, they’re described as “pharmacy only”.

The MedSafe web site describes “pharmacist only” as needing to speak to a pharmacist before they can dispense the items. In my area in the US, that could easily add half an hour of time or more. So I’m wondering exactly what the process is, and how long it usually takes.

In case it’s relevant, the things I’m looking at are paracetamol, omeprazole (Losec), and loratadine (Claratyne). Or if you think I’m really better off bringing my own, let me know.

Thanks

Edit: thanks to everyone for your replies. I can sleep easier and tackle the Australian version of this question tomorrow.
