Is software engineering really worth it now? And the future?

I have seen a lot of memes about software engineers not having a job after completing their degree after the viral of AI. Did that really happen?

I am in a dilemma right now about choosing a course for my degree, between software engineering and electrical engineering, after finishing my foundation, but I am more interested in SE.

Is software engineering really not worth it now? AI is evolving and becoming better over time, and I'm afraid it really will take software engineers' jobs.
