Med-Surg nurse thinking of switching to ED

I’m currently working on an orthopedic/med-surg floor on night shift. I’m a new grad, 6 months into working and I’ve got about 6 months left in my contract. I was a CNA on this floor for three years before becoming a nurse. I’ve been looking at available jobs within my system and there is an ED day shift staff nurse job available that is much closer to where I live. The ED was always something I’d considered but I’ve never really had any experience other than the occasional sitter case as a CNA. Anyone have any insight into the transition and what I could be getting myself into? The slow pace of med-surg (especially nights) is killing me but I’m also really new so I’m learning a lot. Any insight is greatly appreciated.
